The 2019 FRC Game, FIRST® DESTINATION: DEEP SPACE
The Field
In FIRST Destination: Deep Space, Two alliances of deep space travelers race to place hatch panels on their rockets and cargo ship, load valuable cargo for transport off the planet, and return to the safety of their habitat.
Each three-team alliance must race to place hatch panels, load cargo held back by the hatches, and climb onto the habitat. Alliances gain points for every hatch and cargo loaded, and for climbing at the end of the game.

Game Pieces
FIRST Destination: Deep Space uses two game pieces. Large balls called cargo and hatch panels. Hatches must be loaded onto the cargo ship and the rocket first, so that the cargo doesn't fall out. Once the hatches are secured, robots can load the cargo into the ships.
Sandstorm Period
Unlike previous years, there is no designated autonomous period. There is instead the sandstorm, during which the drivers cannot see the field and must instead either drive using cameras on the robots or using an autonomous program.
Teleoperated period
During the remaining match time, students must place the game pieces and prepare to climb at the very end.
Scoring
Alliances are ranked earning Ranking Points. Ranking points are awarded for win or tie match results. Teams also gain ranking points by completely filling one rocket of getting 15 points from climbing.
